The CLEVELAND C73404 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for production and maintenance drilling in metal fabrication, mechanical, and general trade applications. Machined from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit features a 118-degree split point that reduces walking and decreases thrust on entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 1/8 inch (0.1250 inch decimal) in diameter, and the overall length is 2-3/4 inches with a 1-5/8 inch flute length. A regular spiral, two-flute design clears chips efficiently during through-hole drilling. This is a heavy-duty grade bit built to NAS 907 Type A standards.
The C73404 is suited for drilling aluminum and similar non-ferrous metals, though its HSS construction also handles mild steel and plastics in light-duty cycles. The web-thinned, tapered web design reduces cutting resistance, making it well-suited for handheld drill applications, drill presses, and CNC operations where consistent, accurate hole sizing in the 0.1000 to 0.1500 inch decimal range is required. The right-hand cut and spiral flute geometry make this a standard replacement consumable across machine shops, HVAC ductwork fabrication, plumbing rough-in work, and electrical panel assembly.
Designed as a standard jobber-length replacement drill bit for use in handheld drills, benchtop drill presses, and CNC spindles accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Listed under Series 2228 per NAS 907 Type A specification.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists, maintenance technicians, or licensed trade professionals familiar with rotating cutting tools. Ensure the drill chuck is fully tightened and the workpiece is securely clamped before operation. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety procedures when drilling. Do not exceed the speed and feed ratings appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter.
