The CLEVELAND C72156 is a jobber length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastics. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit carries a wire gauge size of 56, corresponding to a decimal diameter of 0.0465 inches. The standard 118-degree split point with web thinning promotes accurate hole starting and reduces walking on flat surfaces. At 1.75 inches overall length with a 0.75-inch spiral flute, it is sized for short-reach applications where rigidity is critical. Right-hand cut with a regular spiral and straight-cylindrical shank, this bit is suited for use in standard drill chucks across a range of benchtop and handheld equipment. It meets ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards.
The CLEVELAND C72156 is intended for general-purpose production and maintenance drilling tasks. The wire size 56 diameter makes it a common choice for tapping pilot holes, light metalworking operations, and precision through-hole work in thin-gauge material. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw drill chucks without modification. It is sold individually and is a fit for machinists, maintenance technicians, electricians, and plumbers who need a reliable small-diameter drill for field or shop use.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks accepting a 0.0465-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Fits benchtop drill presses, hand drills, and CNC equipment configured for straight-shank tooling in the applicable collet or chuck range.
Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized drill chuck before operation. Ensure the drill press or handheld drill is powered off and the chuck is fully tightened before commencing drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and maintain dimensional tolerance. Inspect the cutting edges before each use — small-diameter bits in this size range are susceptible to breakage if run at incorrect feed rates or in worn chucks.
