The CLEVELAND C72155 is a wire gauge size 55 jobber length drill bit designed for general-purpose metal drilling applications. It is manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish and features a standard 118-degree split point with web thinning for improved centering and reduced feed pressure at entry. The two-flute spiral design with a regular helix promotes chip evacuation in short-to-medium depth holes. Overall length is 1-7/8 inches with a flute length of 7/8 inch. Shank diameter matches the drill diameter at 0.0520 inch, fitting standard Jacobs-style chucks and collet holders used in drill presses, CNC drilling centers, and hand drills.
This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and similar materials where a fractional or letter size drill is not required and a precise wire gauge hole is needed. The 2002G series is a general-purpose line commonly stocked by machinists, maintenance techs, and fabrication shops that work with small-diameter precision holes. Typical applications include pilot holes, clearance holes for small fasteners, and electronic or instrument assembly work where tight diameter tolerances are required.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit for use in standard drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling equipment accepting straight-cylindrical shanks in the 0.0520 inch diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists, toolroom technicians, or qualified maintenance personnel familiar with small-diameter drill bit handling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before starting the spindle. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to extend tool life. Small-diameter bits are susceptible to breakage from side loading and excessive feed pressure — apply steady, controlled feed and reduce pressure as the drill breaks through the workpiece.
