The CLEVELAND C72141 is a wire gauge No. 41 jobber length drill bit designed for general-purpose metal drilling in production and maintenance environments. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it features a 118-degree standard point angle and a regular spiral flute geometry that clears chips efficiently during drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.0960 inches in diameter, matching the bit diameter for direct chuck clamping. Web thinning reduces cutting resistance at the point entry, improving feed rates in harder materials. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users of this bit.
This bit fits residential and commercial applications wherever a No. 41 wire gauge hole is required. Common uses include pilot holes for tapping threads, clearance holes in light steel, aluminum, brass, and plastic, and precision drilling in sheet metal fabrication. The 2-3/8 inch overall length and 1-3/8 inch flute length suit standard bench drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machining centers equipped with a compatible chuck or collet. Series 2002G represents a general-purpose jobber length lineup built to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit for use in any standard drill press, hand drill, or machining center equipped with a chuck or collet sized to accept a 0.0960-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before energizing the spindle, and verify chuck key removal prior to operation. Use cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend bit life and maintain hole tolerance. Inspect the cutting edges and point for wear or chipping before each use and replace if the geometry is compromised.
