The CLEVELAND C72129 is a jobber length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. Built from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it carries a wire gauge size of 29, which corresponds to 0.1360 inches in decimal. The 118-degree standard point angle provides a versatile cutting geometry suited to a wide range of workpiece materials. With an overall length of 2.875 inches and a 1.75-inch spiral flute, this bit delivers adequate chip evacuation for typical production and maintenance drilling tasks. It is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, pipefitters, and general tradespeople who require consistent, repeatable hole sizes in everyday applications.
The C72129 fits standard drill chucks and is appropriate for use in both handheld and bench-mounted drilling equipment. Its straight cylindrical shank with a diameter of 0.1360 inches seats securely in conventional three-jaw chucks. The regular spiral flute geometry and web-thinned point reduce entry force and improve centering on flat surfaces. This bit is suited to light production environments, maintenance shops, and field service situations where a reliable general-purpose drill bit in the No. 29 wire size is needed. It conforms to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards, making it appropriate for dimensionally critical applications that reference those specifications.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit compatible with any standard three-jaw drill chuck accepting a 0.1360-inch straight cylindrical shank. Part of the Cleveland Series 2002G line.
Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed prior to powering the spindle. Apply appropriate cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and improve hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges and point condition before each use — a dull or chipped point increases thrust and reduces hole accuracy. Dispose of worn bits in accordance with applicable shop safety procedures.
