The CLEVELAND C72091 is a jobber-length twist drill bit sized to Letter U (0.3680 inches decimal equivalent), manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish. The bit features a standard 118-degree split-point geometry with web thinning and a tapered web configuration, which reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements at the spindle. It runs a 2-flute regular spiral flute pattern in a right-hand cut direction. With a 5-inch overall length and a 3-5/8-inch flute length, this bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Licensed trades and machinists use it in standard drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling operations.
This drill bit is designed for general-purpose production and maintenance drilling applications. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.3680 inches diameter seats directly into standard 3-jaw chucks and collet systems without adapter sleeves. Its jobber-length profile — flute-to-diameter ratio of 4xD — makes it practical for through-hole and blind-hole work in sheet metal, structural steel, cast iron, aluminum, and plastics. The C72091 is a single-piece consumable sold individually, making it a straightforward replacement or line-stock item for shop and field use.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle equipped with a chuck or collet accepting a 0.3680-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the CLEVELAND Series 2002G drill bit family.
Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals using standard drill presses, portable hand drills, or CNC machining centers. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and confirm runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubrication for the workpiece material to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit when the point geometry is no longer intact.
