The CLEVELAND C72088 is a jobber-length twist drill bit sized to Letter R (0.3390 inches decimal equivalent) for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastics. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it features a standard 118-degree point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip clearing at the start of the cut. The two-flute spiral design with regular spiral type provides consistent chip evacuation across a wide range of materials. Overall length is 4.75 inches, with a 3.4375-inch flute length and a 1.3125-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Right-hand cutting direction. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance trades use this bit in standard drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling operations.
The C72088 is suited for general-purpose drilling applications in light manufacturing, fabrication shops, and maintenance-repair-operations environments. Its jobber-length proportions make it a standard reach option for through-holes and blind holes in mild steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials. The 0.3390-inch shank diameter matches the bit diameter, allowing direct chuck mounting in most standard 3-jaw chucks. Conformance to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 ensures dimensional consistency with standard tooling inventories.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard 3-jaw drill chucks accepting a 0.3390 inch straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for use in drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling equipment across a range of workpiece materials.
Install in a properly sized chuck and tighten securely before operation. Power down the drill press or disconnect the tool from its power source before changing bits. Apply appropriate cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals to extend tool life and improve hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges before use and replace any bit showing visible wear, chipping, or dimensional deviation outside the stated tolerance.
