The CLEVELAND C72018 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit features a 118-degree standard point angle and a right-hand spiral flute configuration. The web-thinned, tapered web geometry reduces thrust at the cutting tip, improving penetration and chip evacuation on entry. At 4.25 inches overall length with a 2-15/16-inch flute length, the C72018 fits standard drill chucks and is suited for bench drill presses, hand drills, and magnetic-base drill setups used in fabrication and mechanical service work.
This bit is a Series 2002G general-purpose drill in the 9/32-inch diameter class, falling within the 0.2500 to 0.3000 decimal inch range. It is commonly specified for pilot holes, through-hole drilling, and clearance drilling in light fabrication, HVAC sheet metal work, plumbing rough-in, and electrical trade applications where a standard fractional drill size is required. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts all standard three-jaw chucks without adapters.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard three-jaw drill chuck accepting a 0.2813-inch straight-cylindrical shank, including hand drills, drill presses, and magnetic-base drills.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before drilling. Apply consistent feed pressure appropriate to the workpiece material to avoid work-hardening or premature edge wear. Use cutting fluid on ferrous metals to extend bit life. Disconnect or de-energize equipment before changing or inspecting drill bits.
