The CLEVELAND C72003 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, plastic, and similar materials. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit features a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration for improved penetration and reduced thrust. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.0469 inches in diameter, matching the 3/64-inch (0.0469 inch) drill diameter. Overall length is 1.75 inches with a flute length of 0.75 inches. The regular spiral flute with right-hand cutting direction evacuates chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations. This bit is suited for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, HVAC installers, and plumbers performing light metalwork on the job.
The C72003 is a Series 2002G jobber-length bit intended for general-purpose applications in light manufacturing, field service, and shop environments. Its compact 1.75-inch overall length makes it practical for use in tight clearances where a longer bit would not fit. The 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance for the small diameter. This bit is sold individually per package and is available in multiples of 12 per order, making it well suited for shop restocking or tool crib replenishment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for general-purpose jobber-length drill bits conforming to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 in the 0.0000 to 0.0500 inch drill bit size range.
Install this bit in a drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle with a matching 3/64-inch collet or chuck capable of gripping a 0.0469-inch straight-cylindrical shank securely. At this small diameter, use low feed pressure and appropriate RPM to avoid bit deflection or breakage — consult published speeds-and-feeds references for the material being drilled. Ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped before drilling. No coolant-through capability; use cutting fluid applied externally when drilling steel to extend tool life.
