The CLEVELAND C71308 is a high speed steel jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose metal drilling in professional trade and industrial applications. It measures 10.50 mm (0.4134 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 5.2360 inches and a flute length of 3.4250 inches. The standard 118-degree split point geometry suits a wide range of common drilling tasks, while the black oxide coating provides a base level of lubricity and corrosion resistance. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. This bit is right-hand cutting with a regular spiral flute and a straight cylindrical shank sized at 0.4134 inches in diameter.
The C71308 is built for drilling steel and cast iron in general-purpose production and maintenance environments. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, pipefitters, ironworkers, and general maintenance mechanics will find this bit appropriate for drilling mild to medium-carbon steels and gray cast iron. It fits standard drill chucks and is suited for use in drill presses, CNC machines, and hand-held power drills where a 10.50 mm hole is required. The 4xD flute-by-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance for through-hole drilling in typical workpiece thicknesses.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.4134-inch straight shank, compatible with drill presses, milling machines, and hand-held power drills. Conforms to DIN 338 and ASME B94.11M dimensional specifications.
This drill bit is installed and removed by a licensed or qualified machinist or maintenance technician using a standard 3-jaw or keyed drill chuck. Always secure the workpiece in a vise or fixture before drilling to prevent rotation and injury. Verify spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before starting the cut. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace if the bit is dull to avoid workpiece damage or breakage.
