The CLEVELAND C71301 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose metal drilling in production and maintenance environments. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating for reduced friction and improved chip flow, this bit features a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web for easier entry into workpieces. At 9.6 mm (0.3779 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 5.236 inches and a spiral flute length of 3.425 inches, it covers a wide range of through-hole and blind-hole drilling tasks. It is installed and used by machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians working with drill presses, hand drills, and CNC equipment.
This bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and similar materials in both shop and field settings. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters, making it a practical choice for everyday production drilling, fixture work, and on-site maintenance. The regular spiral geometry promotes consistent chip evacuation during moderate-feed drilling operations.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber-length drill bit for use in any standard drill chuck accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 9.00 mm to 10.00 mm diameter range.
Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck and verify runout before beginning a cut. Always power down or de-energize the machine before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid for ferrous materials to extend bit life and maintain hole quality. Proper feed rate and speed selection for the workpiece material are critical to avoiding premature edge wear.
