The CLEVELAND C71282 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose metal drilling in professional and industrial trade environments. Manufactured from high speed steel with an oxide coating, the bit measures 7.7 mm (0.3031 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 4.606 inches and a flute length of 2.953 inches. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned tip geometry reduce entry force and improve centering on flat or curved surfaces. This bit is appropriate for machinists, maintenance technicians, pipefitters, electricians, and other trades that require reliable hole drilling in steel, iron, aluminum, and similar materials.
The C71282 is built to the ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards, placing it in the Series 2001G general-purpose category. It is suited for use in drill presses, CNC lathes, and hand-held electric drills where a straight-cylindrical shank and right-hand spiral flute are required. The 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral type support efficient chip evacuation in short to moderate depth drilling applications across production and maintenance workflows.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit conforming to DIN 338 and ASME B94.11M standards, compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.3031-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Install in a properly sized drill chuck and tighten securely before use. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement during drilling. Apply cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dulling is observed.
