The CLEVELAND C71266 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating, it delivers solid wear resistance across a wide range of materials encountered in trade and shop environments. The bit measures 6.1 mm (0.2401 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 3.976 inches and a flute length of 2.48 inches. The 118-degree standard point angle is the industry-standard geometry for general-purpose applications. A licensed machinist, maintenance tech, or mechanical contractor will find this bit suitable for everyday production and service work.
The C71266 is suited for use in hand drills, drill presses, and machine-tool setups in both residential and light commercial maintenance environments. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw chucks without modification. The right-hand cut and regular spiral flute pattern provide consistent chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. This bit follows the Series 2001G configuration and conforms to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards, making it appropriate for shops that work to documented tooling specifications.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard three-jaw drill chuck accepting a 0.2401-inch straight-cylindrical shank, including hand drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling setups within the 0.2000 to 0.2500 inch diameter range class.
Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, or mechanical contractors using standard drill chuck equipment. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before applying power and verify chuck key removal prior to operation. Appropriate cutting fluid or coolant is recommended when drilling ferrous metals to prolong tool life. Do not exceed the rated speed for the material being drilled, and inspect the bit for wear or chipping before each use.
