The CLEVELAND C71250 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose metal drilling in professional trade and industrial applications. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating, it measures 4.5 mm (0.1772 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 3.15 inches and a flute length of 1.85 inches. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned tip reduce entry force and improve centering on most common materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. This bit meets ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 specifications, making it a reliable choice for machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals who need consistent performance in everyday drilling tasks.
The C71250 fits typical general-purpose drilling scenarios including ferrous and non-ferrous metal, mild steel, aluminum, and similar materials encountered in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical trade work. Its 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance in shallow-to-moderate-depth holes. The right-hand spiral flute and regular spiral type suit standard drill presses, cordless drill/drivers, and hand drills used in field and shop settings. Sold individually, this bit is appropriate for single-task use or stocking in a trade kit.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting straight-cylindrical shanks in the 4.0 mm to 5.0 mm diameter range. Suitable for drill presses, hand drills, and cordless drivers used across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical trades.
Installation of this drill bit requires seating the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the drill chuck and tightening securely before use. Always power down or disconnect the drill before changing bits. Eye protection and appropriate work-holding are required per standard shop safety practices. Do not exceed the recommended feed rate for the material being drilled, as excessive pressure can cause premature tip wear or bit breakage.
