The CLEVELAND C71230 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose metal drilling in professional shop and field environments. The bit is manufactured from high speed steel with an oxide coating for improved lubricity and basic corrosion resistance. It measures 2.5 mm (0.0984 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 2.244 inches and a flute length of 1.181 inches. The 118-degree standard point angle is suited for drilling into mild steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials. Web thinning at the tip reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation, making this bit a reliable choice for machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians.
The C71230 is intended for general-purpose drilling applications in production and maintenance settings. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification. The regular spiral flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction are compatible with conventional drill presses, CNC machines, and portable power drills. It conforms to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards, making it appropriate for both domestic and metric-specification workflows. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 12 units, this bit is well suited for shop stock or bulk tool replenishment.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard 3-jaw drill chucks on drill presses, CNC drilling machines, and handheld power drills accepting straight-shank tooling in the 0.0984-inch shank diameter range.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating tool safety. Ensure the drill chuck is fully tightened and the workpiece is securely fixtured before operation. Disconnect power to the machine before changing or inspecting tooling. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the material being drilled, and apply cutting fluid as appropriate for the base material.
