The CLEVELAND C71155 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose metal drilling in production and maintenance applications. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating, it carries a wire gauge size of 55, equivalent to 0.0520 inches in decimal. The 118-degree standard drill point provides a well-proven entry geometry suitable for steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. A web-thinned, tapered web construction reduces the thrust required at the tip and improves chip evacuation. At 1.875 inches overall length with a 0.875-inch flute, this bit suits close-quarters drilling where standard jobber reach is appropriate. Two spiral flutes with a regular helix clear chips consistently in light to moderate feeds.
This bit is a fit for trade professionals working in fabrication shops, HVAC equipment manufacturing, plumbing fixture assembly, and general maintenance environments where small-diameter precision holes in metal are routine. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard 3-jaw drill chucks on corded drills, drill presses, and CNC drill heads. Right-hand cutting direction is the shop standard. Tool performance is rated general purpose, making it appropriate for production drilling in ferrous metals at moderate speeds and feeds.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in standard 3-jaw drill chucks on hand drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling equipment accepting straight-cylindrical shanks at 0.0520 inches diameter.
A licensed machinist, maintenance technician, or trained tradesperson should secure the shank fully in a properly sized chuck before operation. Verify spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before drilling. Disconnect power to any machine tool before changing bits. Do not exceed the rated cutting speed for high speed steel in hard materials, as overheating will damage the cutting edge.
