The CLEVELAND C71152 is a wire-gauge jobber-length drill bit sized at number 52 (0.0635 inches decimal equivalent), ground from high speed steel and finished with a black oxide coating for corrosion resistance and reduced friction during drilling. The two-flute spiral design with a 118-degree standard point angle delivers clean entry and efficient chip evacuation in a wide range of workpiece materials. At 1.875 inches overall length with a 0.875-inch flute length, this bit is sized for tight-clearance work and benchtop drilling operations. The straight-cylindrical shank (0.0635 inches diameter, 1.0 inch shank length) seats securely in standard keyless or keyed chucks. The web-thinned, tapered-web construction reduces thrust requirements and improves centering on entry.
The C71152 is a general-purpose bit suited for drilling in mild steel, aluminum, brass, plastics, and similar materials encountered in production, maintenance, and repair environments. Its compact jobber-length profile is practical on drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machines where small-diameter precision holes are required. The oxide finish is appropriate for dry or lightly lubricated drilling. This bit is sold individually and is intended for professional machining, tool room, and fabrication applications where tight diameter tolerances are maintained per ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in standard keyed or keyless drill chucks accepting straight-cylindrical shanks in the 0.0500 to 0.1000 inch diameter range.
Install and service small-diameter drill bits with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the shank fully into the chuck and verify concentricity before initiating a cut. Apply cutting fluid or a light lubricant when drilling ferrous materials to extend tool life. Inspect the point and cutting edges before each use — small-diameter bits are prone to breakage if used with excessive feed pressure or in misaligned setups.
