The CLEVELAND C71039 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose metal drilling in professional trade and industrial applications. Manufactured from high speed steel with an oxide coating, this bit measures 39/64 inches (0.6094 inches) in diameter and carries a 118-degree standard point angle suited for a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Overall length is 7-1/8 inches with a 5-3/16-inch flute length, giving it the reach and chip-clearance depth typical of jobber-series tooling. Right-hand spiral flutes with a regular helix and web-thinned tip reduce entry force and improve chip evacuation on through-hole work.
The C71039 is built for general-purpose drilling in machine shops, fabrication facilities, maintenance and repair operations, and on-site trade work by machinists, pipefitters, ironworkers, and mechanical contractors. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw drill chucks on bench drills, drill presses, mag-base drills, and hand-held power drills. The 2-flute spiral configuration handles steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar structural materials at conventional cutting speeds. This bit belongs to the Cleveland Series 2001G jobber-length lineup and conforms to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 dimensional standards.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard 3-jaw drill chuck capable of accepting a 0.6094-inch straight-cylindrical shank, including bench drills, drill presses, magnetic-base drills, and corded or cordless power drills rated for this shank diameter.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck jaws and tighten with a chuck key before use. Always power down and de-energize the drill press or lock out the tool before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or cutting oil when drilling steel to extend bit life and maintain tolerance. Operators should follow applicable ANSI and shop-safety requirements for eye protection and workpiece clamping when running drill bits at this diameter.
