The CLEVELAND C70340 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-volume, close-tolerance drilling in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit carries a wire gauge size of 36, equal to 0.1065 inches in decimal. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and requires less feed force compared to standard 118-degree geometry. A parallel web with web thinning further improves chip evacuation and cutting efficiency. At 1-13/16 inches overall length, the screw machine length profile keeps the bit rigid and minimizes deflection in short-reach drilling setups. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks and machine spindles.
This bit is suited for drilling alloy steel and aluminum in production machining, sheet metal work, and general fabrication. The screw machine length format is the standard choice for drill press, CNC machining center, and turret lathe operations where stub rigidity is required. The heavy-duty grade and NAS 907 Type C specification make it appropriate for aerospace and defense manufacturing environments where dimensional tolerance and material traceability matter. Sold individually per package; minimum order quantity is 12 pieces.
Designed for drilling alloy steel and aluminum workpieces. Suitable for use in any machine spindle or drill chuck accepting a straight-cylindrical shank of 0.1065 inches. Conforms to Cleveland Series 2330.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-and-die professional. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before powering the spindle, and verify runout before beginning production drilling. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing bits. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed rates appropriate to the workpiece material.
