The CLEVELAND C70306 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-production drilling in metalworking applications. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 135-degree split point with web thinning that reduces thrust and improves centering without a pilot hole. The wire size 2 diameter measures 0.2210 inches, and the overall length is 2-7/16 inches, making it a compact, stub-style bit suited for close-quarters drilling. It carries a right-hand cut with a two-flute regular spiral configuration. Machinists, tool-and-die shops, and production drilling operations are the primary users of this bit.
Screw machine length drill bits are shorter than jobber-length bits, which increases rigidity and reduces deflection in high-speed drilling setups. This bit is suited for drilling alloy steel and aluminum in production environments where spindle runout and bit flex must be minimized. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines without adapters. Series 2330 is a heavy-duty grade designation. The parallel web configuration and web-thinned point design work together to keep entry clean and consistent across repeated cycles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct addition for standard drill chucks accepting a 0.2210-inch straight-cylindrical shank, compatible with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automatic screw machines drilling alloy steel and aluminum.
Installation is performed by machinists and toolroom technicians. Secure the straight shank fully in the drill chuck and confirm runout before cycling. Power down and lock out the machine before changing bits. Follow shop speed-and-feed tables for high-speed steel bits in the workpiece material being drilled — do not extrapolate values from carbide tooling charts.
