The CLEVELAND C70291 is a screw machine length drill bit sized to Letter M (0.2950 inches) and built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements, making it well suited for production drilling and repetitive hole-making tasks. The web-thinned, parallel-web construction improves chip evacuation and extends cutting life. At 2.75 inches overall length, the shortened screw machine profile provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, which reduces deflection in tight setups or drill press fixtures. Right-hand cut, two-flute spiral geometry handles a range of metals and light alloys.
This drill bit is intended for use on alloy steels and aluminum, making it a practical choice for machine shops, maintenance technicians, and fabrication pros working with metal stock, structural components, or machined assemblies. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. The screw machine length format is common in CNC turret applications, drill press work, and hand-drill operations where stub rigidity is preferred over extended reach. Series 2330 conforms to ASME B94.11M and NAS 907 Type C specifications.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.2950-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling alloy steel and aluminum workpieces. Fits CNC turret setups, bench drill presses, and hand drills where a screw machine length bit is specified.
Install in a keyed or keyless chuck rated for the shank diameter and secure firmly before operation. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement during drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for alloy steel applications to preserve cutting edge life. Follow applicable shop safety practices and OSHA guidelines when operating drilling equipment.
