The CLEVELAND C70265 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed steel cutting in tight-clearance and production drilling applications. Built to Series 2330 specifications, this bit measures 9/32 inch (0.2812 inch) in diameter with a 2-11/16 inch overall length and a 1-1/2 inch flute length. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and thrust on entry, making it well suited for accurate hole placement without a center punch. The bright uncoated finish is standard for general-purpose use, and the web-thinned parallel web construction improves chip evacuation and reduces cutting force. Licensed machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals use this bit in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling operations.
This bit is rated for drilling into alloy steel and aluminum, and its screw machine length — shorter than a jobber bit — provides added rigidity in production and repair environments where drill wander and deflection are concerns. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks. With a 2-flute regular spiral configuration and right-hand cut, it follows conventional drilling setups without special toolholding. Heavy-duty grade construction and conformance to ASME B94.11M and NAS 907 Type C standards make it appropriate for aerospace-adjacent and industrial maintenance work.
Designed as a standard replacement or production-use screw machine drill bit for applications involving alloy steel and aluminum workpieces where a 9/32 inch diameter, straight cylindrical shank bit conforming to ASME B94.11M is required.
Install in a standard drill chuck sized to accept a 0.2813 inch straight cylindrical shank. Power down and de-energize all equipment before changing tooling. Confirm chuck runout and bit seating before operation to maintain the stated diameter tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0010 inch. Drilling feeds and speeds should be set per the workpiece material; excessive feed pressure can reduce bit life and accuracy.
