The CLEVELAND C70222 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metal-drilling applications. Built from M42 high-speed cobalt steel, it carries a gold oxide coating that improves lubricity and heat resistance during high-speed operation. The bit measures 2.8 mm in diameter (0.1102 inches) with an overall length of 2.4 inches and a flute length of 1.299 inches. A 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust force, making it well suited for hard or work-hardened materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. This bit meets NAS 907 Type J standards and is graded heavy duty.
The C70222 is intended for use in metalworking environments where aluminum and similar non-ferrous or light alloy materials are the primary workpiece. Its regular spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in these materials. The two-flute configuration keeps the cutting geometry simple and easy to resharpen. Typical users include maintenance technicians, HVAC sheet-metal fabricators, plumbers drilling through framing and fixtures, and electricians boring pilot holes through metal enclosures and junction boxes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.1102-inch straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for benchtop drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling operations in the 0.1000- to 0.1500-inch diameter range.
Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, or trade professionals using a standard drill press or hand drill. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before drilling. Always wear appropriate eye protection and use cutting fluid when drilling ferrous materials to extend bit life and manage heat buildup. Do not exceed the rated speed range for the material being drilled.
