The CLEVELAND C70201 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge 68, with a decimal diameter of 0.0310 inches. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a gold oxide coating, this bit delivers extended tool life in demanding production and maintenance drilling applications. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements compared to a conventional 118-degree point. Overall length is 1-3/8 inches with a 0.50-inch flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.0310 inches in diameter and 0.8750 inches in length. Meets NAS 907 Type J specification, confirming dimensional and material conformance for aerospace and precision-trade work.
This bit is suited for small-diameter drilling in aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials, as well as general-purpose precision hole work in light steel. The regular spiral flute with web-thinned, tapered web geometry promotes chip evacuation in blind and through holes at this bore size. HVAC technicians, electricians, plumbers, and maintenance mechanics use wire-gauge bits like the C70201 when drilling pilot holes, clearance holes for fasteners, or small-diameter pass-throughs in sheet metal and light structural components. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 12 units.
Designed as a direct-fit wire gauge 68 jobber-length drill bit for standard straight-shank drill chucks in bench drills, hand drills, and CNC drilling equipment accepting 0.0310-inch shank diameters.
Installation is performed by a machinist, maintenance technician, or qualified trade professional using a standard keyless or keyed drill chuck. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before use. Operate at manufacturer-recommended speeds for the workpiece material and bit diameter to avoid overheating the cutting edges. Coolant-through capability is not supported on this bit; use cutting fluid applied externally when drilling steel or stainless materials.
