The CLEVELAND C70192 is a wire gauge size 59 jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in metalworking and fabrication applications. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a gold oxide coating, this bit delivers enhanced heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS bits. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and cuts through workpiece material with less feed pressure. At 0.0410 inch in diameter and 1-5/8 inches overall length, it is suited for close-tolerance holes where dimensional accuracy is critical. A licensed machinist, tool and die technician, or industrial maintenance tech is the typical installer.
This drill bit is built for use in aluminum and similar non-ferrous and ferrous materials where heat buildup and edge retention are ongoing concerns. The right-hand spiral flute design evacuates chips efficiently, reducing the risk of chip packing in blind holes. It conforms to NAS 907 Type J standards, making it appropriate for aerospace, precision manufacturing, and heavy-duty industrial environments where controlled tolerances are required. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collets without modification.
Designed as a heavy-duty OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill bit for applications requiring NAS 907 Type J compliance and a wire gauge size 59 diameter of 0.0410 inch. Compatible with standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 0.0410-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, tool and die workers, or industrial maintenance technicians using a drill press, CNC machining center, or hand drill with an appropriate chuck. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck is tightened securely before operation to prevent runout. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to maximize tool life, noting this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Replace the bit if visible chipping, edge rounding, or excessive heat discoloration is observed.
