The CLEVELAND C70169 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for precision metal drilling in demanding shop and field applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a gold oxide coating, it carries a wire gauge size of 36, equivalent to 0.1065 inches in diameter. The 135-degree split point reduces walking at entry and cuts required thrust, making it well-suited for hard or abrasive workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a flute length of 1.4375 inches. This bit is manufactured to NAS 907 Type J standards and is classified as heavy duty grade.
The C70169 is rated for use in aluminum as a primary workpiece material, and its cobalt M42 construction extends tool life in harder alloys and stainless as well. With a regular spiral, two-flute design and web-thinned, tapered web configuration, it evacuates chips efficiently in through-hole and blind-hole drilling. Typical users include machinists, aerospace maintenance technicians, HVAC fabricators, and general metalworking trades needing repeatable, tight-tolerance holes in the 0.1000 to 0.1500 inch diameter range. This bit ships individually and must be ordered in multiples of 12.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill bit for applications requiring wire size 36 (0.1065 inches) diameter holes in aluminum and similar metals, conforming to NAS 907 Type J standards as part of the Cleveland Series 2213 line.
Install in a standard drill chuck or drill press collet, ensuring the shank is fully seated and the chuck is tightened securely before operation. Power down or de-energize the drill press or hand drill before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling metals to extend bit life and maintain hole quality. Follow applicable shop safety practices and wear eye protection whenever drilling operations are performed.
