The CLEVELAND C70126 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for heavy-duty metal drilling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it carries a gold oxide coating that reduces friction and helps extend tool life under demanding conditions. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and requires no center punch on most surfaces. At 5.24 inches overall length with a 3.425-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks via its straight-cylindrical shank. The web-thinned, tapered web design lowers thrust requirements and improves chip evacuation. Licensed technicians and machinists in metal fabrication, HVAC, plumbing rough-in, and electrical work commonly reach for this grade of bit when drilling into harder stock.
The C70126 is suited for drilling aluminum and other non-ferrous and ferrous metals where a heavy-duty cobalt bit is required. The right-hand spiral flute with regular helix provides consistent chip clearance during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. It conforms to NAS 907 Type J standards, making it appropriate for aerospace and industrial MRO environments as well as commercial mechanical contracting work where dimensional precision is critical. A diameter tolerance of -0.0010 to 0.0000 inches ensures holes are held within tight limits for tapped or reamed bores.
Designed as a heavy-duty jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting a 0.3937-inch diameter shank, suitable for use in handheld drills, drill presses, and magnetic base drills across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and industrial fabrication applications.
This bit is installed by a machinist, pipefitter, electrician, or HVAC technician using any chuck rated for a 0.3937-inch straight shank. Ensure the chuck is fully tightened and the workpiece is securely clamped before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant on harder ferrous materials to maintain edge life; note that coolant-through is not supported by this bit. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace when chipping or dulling is observed to maintain hole-diameter tolerance.
