The CLEVELAND C70122 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit engineered for demanding metal drilling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a gold oxide coating, it delivers extended wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard HSS bits. The bit measures 8.5 mm (0.3346 inches) in diameter with a 4.61-inch overall length and a 2.953-inch flute length. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers required thrust, while the web-thinned, tapered web configuration supports clean penetration into hard and abrasive workpiece materials. Designated as heavy-duty grade and conforming to NAS 907 Type J, this bit suits production and MRO environments where consistent hole quality is required.
The C70122 is well suited for drilling aluminum and similar non-ferrous or light ferrous materials in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and mechanical trades. The right-hand, regular-spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.3346 inches in diameter, fitting standard three-jaw drill chucks on benchtop drill presses, magnetic drills, and handheld power tools. It is sold individually and intended for technicians and machinists who require a single precision bit at a specific size increment.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement bit for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks accepting a 0.3346-inch straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for drill presses, magnetic base drills, and handheld electric drills used in metal fabrication and maintenance work.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with metal drilling practices. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized drill chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before starting the tool. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to manage heat, particularly during sustained production drilling. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery.
