The CLEVELAND C70087 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a gold oxide coating, this bit delivers heat and wear resistance suited to heavy-duty production drilling. It features a 135-degree split point for fast engagement and reduced walking on entry, eliminating the need for a center punch in most setups. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.1575 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 2.95 inches, with a flute length of 1.693 inches. Web-thinned and tapered web construction reduces thrust requirements and chip evacuation resistance.
This drill bit is intended for use on aluminum and similar non-ferrous and ferrous materials in shop, field, and production environments. Its right-hand, regular spiral flute geometry suits general-purpose drilling in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld power tools. The NAS 907 Type J specification makes it appropriate for aerospace and precision manufacturing environments where controlled tolerances are required. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and fabricators working in metalworking trades will find this bit suited to everyday production use.
Designed as a heavy-duty OEM-style jobber-length drill bit in Series 2213, rated for aluminum as the primary workpiece material and suitable for general metalworking applications requiring a 4 mm diameter with a straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation of this bit requires a compatible chuck or collet sized for a 0.1575-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Machinists should verify spindle speed and feed rate settings are appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before drilling. Always secure the workpiece firmly and confirm the drill press or machine tool is at a full stop before changing bits. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use external coolant or cutting fluid as needed for the application.
