The CLEVELAND C70079 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in metal fabrication, maintenance, and industrial trade applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a gold oxide coating, this bit delivers heat resistance and extended tool life when drilling through tough or abrasive materials. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and allows the bit to self-center without a pilot hole. At 2.56 inches overall length with a 1.417-inch flute length, it fits standard jobber-length drill chucks and is suited for hand-held and bench-mounted drilling operations.
The C70079 is rated for use on aluminum as its primary workpiece material but is well-suited for a range of non-ferrous and ferrous stock encountered in HVAC fabrication, plumbing rough-in, electrical panel work, and general mechanical trades. The right-hand spiral flute clears chips efficiently during through-hole drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard keyless or keyed drill chucks without slippage. Meeting NAS 907 Type J standards, this bit is appropriate for production and service environments where dimensional accuracy and repeatable results are required.
Designed for use in standard jobber-length drill chucks accepting a 0.1260-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary rated workpiece material is aluminum; suitable for general metalworking applications within the 0.1000 to 0.1500 decimal-inch diameter range group.
This bit is installed by a machinist, maintenance technician, or trade professional using a hand drill, drill press, or milling machine with a compatible chuck. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and confirm zero runout before beginning the cut. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to preserve coating life and edge sharpness. Inspect the cutting edges for wear after extended use, particularly when drilling hardened or abrasive stock.
