The CLEVELAND C70061 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in metals and other hard materials. Built to M42 cobalt steel grade, it carries a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and lowers the thrust force needed to start the hole. A gold oxide coating adds surface hardness and helps resist heat buildup during extended drilling cycles. At 1.57 inches overall length and 1.4 mm diameter, this bit fits standard chucks and collets used in machining, fabrication, and maintenance applications. Right-hand spiral flutes with a regular helix clear chips efficiently and suit a wide range of production and repair drilling tasks.
The C70061 is suited for drilling aluminum as its primary workpiece material, though the M42 cobalt construction also handles stainless steel, alloy steel, and other demanding materials common in metalworking and fabrication shops. It sees use in production drilling on CNC and manual drill presses, hand-held power drill applications, and maintenance repair work where small-diameter precision holes are required. The NAS 907 Type J specification makes it a known-standard part for aerospace and industrial procurement. Sold individually, but the minimum order quantity from the supplier is 12 units per order.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production drill bit for applications requiring a 1.4 mm diameter jobber length bit conforming to NAS 907 Type J. Primary workpiece material is aluminum; M42 cobalt grade extends usable life in harder metals.
Installation of this drill bit is performed by machinists and maintenance technicians using a standard drill press, CNC machine, or hand-held power drill with an appropriate chuck or collet sized for a 0.0550-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Confirm the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is de-energized or locked out before changing bits. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent movement that can snap small-diameter bits. Do not exceed the drill press or machine spindle speed rating recommended for the workpiece material and bit diameter.
