The CLEVELAND C70033 is a cobalt M42 grade jobber length drill bit designed for heavy-duty drilling in metalworking and fabrication applications. It measures 6.05 mm (0.2380 inches) in diameter with a 4-inch overall length and a 2.75-inch spiral flute length. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and decreases thrust at entry, while the gold oxide coating improves lubricity and heat resistance during high-speed drilling. Web thinning further reduces cutting resistance at the tip. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical contractors as well as industrial machinists reach for this bit when drilling into aluminum, steel, and other ferrous and non-ferrous metals where standard HSS bits wear too quickly.
This drill bit is suited for production drilling environments where heat buildup is a concern and bit longevity is critical. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard three-jaw drill chucks on both handheld and bench-mounted drill presses. The regular spiral flute geometry provides efficient chip evacuation, making it a practical choice for hole-making tasks in sheet metal, structural members, brackets, and mechanical assemblies encountered during equipment installation and service work.
Designed as a heavy-duty jobber length drill bit for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks across handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling equipment accepting 0.2380-inch diameter shanks. Primary workpiece material is aluminum per manufacturer specification; also suitable for general metalworking applications consistent with M42 cobalt tooling.
A licensed machinist or qualified trades professional should secure the shank fully in a properly sized drill chuck before operation. Always power down and lock out the drill press or tool before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous materials to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Wear ANSI-rated eye protection and secure the workpiece with a clamp or vise before drilling.
