The CLEVELAND C70019 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for heavy-duty drilling applications in metal fabrication and maintenance environments. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a gold oxide coating, this bit delivers superior heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. It features a 135-degree split point that self-centers on contact, reducing walking and the need for a center punch. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 5/16 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 4.5 inches, with a flute length of 3.1875 inches. This is a right-hand-cut, two-flute spiral bit suited for production and field drilling tasks performed by machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians.
The C70019 is rated for drilling aluminum as its primary workpiece material but performs reliably across a range of non-ferrous and ferrous metals where a cobalt-grade bit is appropriate. Its web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust force at the cutting edge, making it well suited for hand-held drill applications and drill-press work in tight trade environments. The Series 2213 designation and NAS 907 Type J compliance make it a recognized standard in aerospace-adjacent and industrial maintenance settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-stock jobber drill bit for use in any 3/8-inch or larger chuck accepting a straight-cylindrical shank; primary rated workpiece material is aluminum per manufacturer specification.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with rotary cutting tools and applicable shop-safety practices. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before beginning a cut. Always apply appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to prolong bit life and prevent work hardening. Do not exceed the recommended RPM range for the bit diameter and workpiece material combination.
