The CLEVELAND C70004 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in metal and other demanding workpiece materials. Built to NAS 907 Type J standards, this bit features a 135-degree split point for reduced walking on entry and faster penetration without a center punch. The M42 cobalt steel construction and gold oxide coating provide heat and wear resistance during high-speed drilling applications. With a 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch decimal) diameter and a 2 inch overall length, this bit suits close-tolerance work where dimensional accuracy is critical. Licensed tradespeople and machinists rely on this series for consistent, repeatable results in production and maintenance environments.
The C70004 is suited for drilling aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, as well as general-purpose metalworking tasks in fabrication shops, HVAC installations, electrical rough-in, and mechanical maintenance. The regular spiral flute promotes efficient chip evacuation during through-hole drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank provides secure grip in standard 3-jaw chucks and quick-change drill drivers. This bit is sold individually but requires a minimum order of 12 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard jobber drill for use in any 3-jaw chuck or drill press accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at 5/64 inch diameter. Primary workpiece material is aluminum per specification; suitable for general metal drilling applications consistent with M42 cobalt tooling.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, maintenance technicians, electricians, and HVAC technicians using standard drill presses, hand drills, or drill drivers. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck before operation and confirm runout is within tolerance for close-tolerance holes. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous materials to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace if chipping or dullness is observed to avoid workpiece damage or bit breakage.
