The CLEVELAND C59252 is a thread forming tap designed for creating internal threads in blind holes without cutting. Unlike cutting taps, this forming tap displaces material rather than removing it, producing stronger threads with no chips to clear. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright uncoated finish, it is engineered for the 10-24 UNC thread standard and meets a 2B/3B class of fit. With an H6 thread limit and a bottoming chamfer of 1-2 threads, it seats close to the bottom of blind holes for maximum thread engagement. Licensed machinists, maintenance technicians, and production floor operators commonly use this tap in metalworking and repair applications.
The C59252 is suited for threading blind holes in steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals. Its bottoming configuration makes it the right choice when thread depth must extend as far as possible toward the closed end of a hole. The forming action is especially effective in ductile materials where chip evacuation is a concern. With an overall length of 2.375 inches and a thread length of 0.875 inches, it fits standard tap holders and chucks used in manual and CNC tapping operations. Series 1092 is Cleveland's designation for this forming tap line.
Designed as a replacement or standard-stock forming tap for 10-24 UNC blind hole threading in steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals. Compatible with standard tap holders sized for a 0.194-inch shank diameter and a 0.152-inch square drive.
Machinists and maintenance technicians should use the correct tap drill size for the 10-24 UNC thread form prior to tapping. Secure the workpiece and apply appropriate tapping fluid or cutting oil before operation. Forming taps require higher torque than cutting taps, so verify that the tap holder and machine spindle are rated for the torque required by the workpiece material. Always follow shop safety practices and applicable workplace standards when operating tapping equipment.
