The CLEVELAND C58532 is a spiral flute plug tap designed for blind hole threading in ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it cuts a 6-32 UNC right-hand thread to a 2B class of fit. The 52-degree helix angle and fast flute style evacuate chips up and out of the hole during the cut, which is the defining advantage of spiral flute geometry in blind-hole applications. Thread length is 0.38 inches with an overall length of 2 inches. The H3 thread limit keeps tolerances tight for consistent 2B fit across production runs. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users.
This tap is suited for threading blind holes in alloy steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel workpieces. The plug chamfer distributes cutting load across several leading threads, making it appropriate for through-hole starting or shallow blind holes where there is some clearance below the last thread. It is commonly used in CNC tapping, drill press tapping, and manual tapping operations in job shops, maintenance shops, and production machining environments. Series 1093 and 1094 designations apply to this tool.
Designed for blind hole threading in alloy tool steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel. Compatible with standard tap holders and tapping heads accepting a 0.141-inch shank diameter. Part of the Cleveland Series 1093 and 1094 tap line.
This tap is installed and operated by machinists using a tap wrench, tapping head, or CNC spindle with a rigid or floating tap holder. Secure the workpiece before tapping and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the material being threaded — particularly important with stainless steel to prevent galling. Do not force the tap past the chamfer lead if the hole depth is insufficient for the required thread length plus chip clearance. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use; a dull tap in a blind hole is a common cause of tap breakage.
