The CLEVELAND C58433 is a spiral flute bottoming tap designed for threading blind holes in a range of metals including aluminum, non-ferrous materials, and steel. It is machined from high speed steel with an oxide finish that provides basic lubricity and corrosion resistance during cutting operations. The tap runs a 6-32 UNC thread specification with a 52-degree helix angle that evacuates chips efficiently on the upstroke, reducing the risk of chip packing in shallow blind holes. Thread tolerance is held to an H3 limit with a 2B class of fit, making it suitable for standard fastener clearances found in light mechanical assemblies. Installation is performed by licensed machinists or trade professionals working with tapping equipment or hand tap holders.
This tap is suited for blind hole threading applications in production and maintenance environments. The bottoming chamfer allows threads to be cut close to the bottom of a blind hole, which is critical when fastener engagement depth is limited. With a 0.38-inch thread length and 2-inch overall length, the C58433 fits standard tap holders and works with both CNC tapping cycles and manual tapping operations. Typical applications include threading mounting holes in aluminum enclosures, electrical panels, and light structural components where 6-32 fasteners are specified.
Designed for blind hole threading of 6-32 UNC threads in aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and steel workpieces. Fits standard tap holders and drive equipment sized for the 0.141-inch shank diameter of this tap series.
Always secure the workpiece and use a proper tap holder or tapping head to maintain axial alignment during threading. Ensure the drill hole is sized to the correct tap drill diameter for a 6-32 UNC thread before starting the tap. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tap life and reduce galling. Reverse the tap periodically during hand tapping to break chips if working in steel.
