The CLEVELAND C57203 is a spiral point plug tap designed for through-hole threading in metal workpieces. It cuts a metric coarse M12 x 1.75 thread to a 6H class of fit, delivering the precision and consistency required in production and maintenance machining environments. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright uncoated finish, this tap carries a D6 thread limit and features 3 flutes with a right-hand thread direction. Overall length is 3.375 inches with a thread length of 1.6563 inches and a shank diameter of 0.3670 inches. It is installed by machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians working with drill presses, CNC machines, or hand tapping setups.
This tap is engineered for through-hole threading applications in steel and non-ferrous metals. The spiral point geometry pushes chips ahead of the cut, making it well suited for threading through-holes where chip evacuation is a priority. It is commonly used in general metalworking shops, manufacturing facilities, and MRO environments where M12 coarse threads are frequently required. The Series 1011 designation identifies this as part of a standardized Cleveland product line built to consistent dimensional tolerances.
Designed for through-hole threading in steel and non-ferrous metals where an M12 x 1.75 metric coarse thread is specified. Suitable for use in standard drill presses, tapping arms, and CNC machining centers configured for right-hand tapping.
This tap should be installed and operated by qualified machinists or technicians familiar with tapping procedures and machine setup. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is properly aligned before beginning the threading operation to avoid tap breakage. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for the material being tapped. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use and replace when thread quality degrades.
