The CLEVELAND C57098 is a spiral point tap designed for cutting 10-24 UNC internal threads in blind holes. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright finish, it features a bottoming chamfer that allows threading close to the bottom of a hole. With 2 flutes and a right-hand thread direction, this tap is sized at 2.375 inches overall length with a 0.5-inch thread length. It is intended for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with aluminum, copper alloys, low carbon steel, and magnesium.
The C57098 is suited for blind hole threading applications in light manufacturing, HVAC equipment fabrication, electrical panel assembly, and general mechanical maintenance. Its bottoming chamfer makes it appropriate for jobs where a standard or plug chamfer cannot reach full thread depth. The H3 thread limit and 2B/3B class of fit support standard tolerance requirements across a wide range of fastener assemblies. This tap works without coolant-through capability, making it compatible with conventional manual or machine tapping setups.
Designed for blind hole threading in aluminum, copper alloys, low carbon steel, and magnesium workpieces requiring a 10-24 UNC thread form to 2B/3B class of fit.
Install in a tap wrench, drill press, or tapping machine set for right-hand rotation. Ensure the hole is drilled to the correct tap drill diameter for a 10-24 UNC thread before tapping. Apply cutting fluid appropriate for the work material to extend tap life and improve thread quality. Back the tap out periodically to clear chips when working in deep blind holes.
