The CLEVELAND C56060 is a 10-32 UNF straight flute hand tap designed for cutting internal threads in a wide range of ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and improved wear resistance compared to uncoated alternatives. The plug chamfer provides a gradual lead-in, making it effective in both through-hole and blind-hole threading applications. With 4 flutes and an H3 thread limit, the C56060 holds consistent tolerance for 2B class-of-fit threads. Overall length is 2.375 inches with a 0.5-inch thread length. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and maintenance technicians are the primary users.
The C56060 is suited for threading operations in cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon steel workpieces. Its straight flute geometry is appropriate for through-hole threading and shallow blind-hole applications where chip control is managed manually or with cutting fluid. The right-hand thread direction and plug chamfer make this a general-purpose tap for production and maintenance environments. It belongs to the Cleveland Series 1002TICN family of coated hand taps.
Designed as a hand tap for 10-32 UNF threaded holes in cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Compatible with standard tap wrenches and machine tapping holders accepting the square drive shank dimensions of this tap. Part of the Cleveland Series 1002TICN coated hand tap line.
This tap is intended for use by qualified machinists or maintenance tradespeople familiar with hand tapping procedures. Always secure the workpiece and align the tap perpendicular to the hole before beginning thread cutting. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the material being tapped, particularly when working with stainless steel, to prevent galling and premature tap wear. Back the tap off periodically to break chips and clear flutes during operation.
