The CLEVELAND C55420 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading operations in metalworking applications. It cuts an M10 x 1.5 thread profile to a 2B class of fit and is manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating for improved wear resistance and tool life. The plug chamfer style provides a gradual lead-in, making it well suited for through-hole tapping where chip evacuation is a priority. With a D6 thread limit and three flutes, this tap delivers consistent thread geometry across production and maintenance threading tasks. It is a standard tool for machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabrication shops.
This tap is intended for through-hole threading in cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. The spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the tap rather than packing them into the flutes, which reduces the risk of tap breakage in continuous through-hole cuts. It fits standard tap holders and machines used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-tapping setups. The right-hand thread direction is the standard orientation for general metalworking. This part is sold individually and is part of the Cleveland Series 1011TICN product line.
Designed for through-hole threading in cast iron, stainless steel, and steel. Fits standard tap holders sized for the 9.68 mm shank diameter. Part of the Cleveland Series 1011TICN line.
This tap is installed and operated by machinists or maintenance technicians using standard tap holders, tapping heads, or CNC tooling. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle is properly aligned before beginning the tapping cycle. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material, especially when tapping stainless steel, to reduce heat buildup and extend tool life. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use and replace if thread quality degrades.
