The CLEVELAND C55364 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading in metalworking applications. Built from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it drives chips forward ahead of the cut, keeping the flutes clear during production runs. The M10 x 1.5 thread size with a 2B class of fit meets standard tolerance requirements for most fastener and assembly applications. With a plug chamfer and 3 flutes, it balances cutting efficiency with chip evacuation in a compact 2.9375-inch overall length. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die shops, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users.
This tap is rated for cast iron and steel. The through-hole application means chips are pushed ahead into the bore rather than backed out, making it well suited for continuous production threading in vertical or horizontal machining centers and drill presses. The D6 thread limit designates a slightly oversized tolerance to compensate for coating buildup, ensuring the finished thread meets 2B fit specifications. It is not designed for blind-hole work where chip packing would be a concern.
Designed for through-hole threading in cast iron and steel workpieces requiring an M10 x 1.5 thread at a 2B class of fit. Part of the Cleveland Series 1011TN product line.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Always ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle is properly aligned before engaging the tap. Use an appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound for the material being threaded to prevent premature tool wear or breakage. Power down and lock out any machine tool before changing or inspecting taps.
