The CLEVELAND C54468 is a 1/4-28 bottoming hand tap designed for cutting internal threads in blind and through holes. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright uncoated finish, it runs four straight flutes to clear chips and maintain thread accuracy in a range of metals. The bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole, making it the right choice when thread engagement depth is critical. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 0.63-inch threaded section, this tap fits standard tap wrenches and is suited to manual hand-tapping operations in a machine shop or field environment.

This tap is used in production and maintenance machining wherever 1/4-28 UNF internal threads are required. The UNF (Unified National Fine) thread form is common in applications requiring higher thread engagement strength or vibration resistance than coarse thread, including precision assemblies, fastened assemblies in alloy and carbon steel components, and aluminum fabrications. Installation Notes
