The CLEVELAND C54292 is a three-piece tap set designed for cutting 8-36 UNF internal threads in metal workpieces. The set includes bottoming, plug, and taper chamfer taps, covering the full threading sequence from initial thread formation to completing threads at the bottom of a blind hole. All three taps are manufactured from high speed steel with a bright finish and feature four flutes for efficient chip evacuation. Overall length is 2.125 inches with a thread length of 0.38 inches. Thread direction is right hand and thread limit is H2, making this set suited to standard tolerance threading work in light to medium materials.
This tap set is used in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication environments where 8-36 UNF threads must be cut by hand or under power. The inclusion of all three chamfer styles makes it practical for through-hole and blind-hole applications alike. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians working with small-diameter unified fine threads will find the complete sequence useful for both production and repair work.
Designed for cutting 8-36 UNF right hand internal threads. Fits standard tap handles and tapping heads designed for this tap series and shank size.
Tapping should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician following standard threading practices. Secure the workpiece firmly before starting. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for the material being tapped to extend tap life and improve thread quality. Start with the taper tap to establish the thread, use the plug tap to advance, and finish with the bottoming tap when threading to the bottom of a blind hole.
