The CLEVELAND C53667 is a high speed steel drift designed to remove taper shank drill bits from drill sockets and sleeves. The drift wedges into the slot of a Morse taper socket to eject the drill bit without damaging the shank or the socket bore. Constructed from high speed steel, the C53667 resists wear and deformation under repeated use. This tool is standard equipment in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and maintenance departments where taper shank tooling is used regularly on drill presses, lathes, and milling machines. The C53667 drift is sized for use with 3MT (No. 3 Morse Taper) sockets and sleeves. It is suited for any application requiring routine removal of taper shank drill bits from 3MT toolholders. Use by a machinist or toolroom technician. Before removing the drill bit, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Insert the drift into the ejection slot of the Morse taper socket and apply a firm, controlled strike with a mallet to eject the taper shank. Avoid striking the drift at an angle, as this can damage the socket slot over time.
