The CLEVELAND C52173 is a cobalt square end mill built for demanding material removal in ferrous metals and high-temperature alloys. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention that standard HSS tooling cannot match. The 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 9/16 inch length of cut and a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat. A four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration at a 30-degree helix angle provides efficient chip evacuation and a stable cutting action. This is a double-end design, giving machinists two usable cutting ends per tool. Installation and use are performed by machinists and toolroom personnel on vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills.

The C52173 is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and general steel workpieces. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole.
