The CLEVELAND C46520 is a counterbore pilot designed for use with counterboring tools in precision machining and fabrication applications. It features a 3/32 inch head diameter and a 3/32 inch shank diameter, machined from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright uncoated finish. The pilot guides the counterbore cutter to ensure accurate alignment and concentricity with a pre-drilled hole. This type of pilot is a standard consumable in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and metal fabrication environments where counterbored fastener seats are required.
The C46520 is suited for use in general metalworking applications where a small-diameter pilot is needed to maintain cutter alignment during counterboring operations. It is commonly used when preparing holes to accept socket head cap screws, button head screws, or other fasteners that require a recessed seat. The bright HSS construction provides adequate hardness for use in mild steels, aluminum, brass, and similar materials at normal cutting speeds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard service pilot for counterboring tool sets requiring a 3/32 inch pilot diameter. Compatible with counterbore bodies sized to accept a 3/32 inch shank pilot.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians. Ensure the counterbore body is fully de-energized and the machine is locked out before changing pilots. The pilot should seat securely in the counterbore body before beginning any cutting operation. Inspect the pilot for wear or damage before each use, as a worn pilot will compromise hole concentricity.
