The CLEVELAND C46433 is a 3-flute interchangeable pilot counterbore designed for precision boring operations in metalworking applications. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool delivers a 9/16 inch counterbore diameter and mounts on a 1/2 inch straight shank. The right-hand cutting direction and polished flute geometry support clean, accurate seat formation in a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous base materials. With an overall length of 4-5/16 inches and a shank length of 3-1/16 inches, the C46433 fits standard drill press and milling machine setups. It is installed by machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians working on precision assemblies.
This counterbore is suited for creating flat-bottomed recesses for socket head cap screws and similar fasteners in alloy tool steel, aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel. The interchangeable pilot design accepts a 3/16 inch pilot shank, allowing the pilot to be swapped to match different clearance hole diameters without replacing the entire body. Typical applications include production machining, MRO work, and fabrication environments where consistent counterbore depth and seat finish are required.
Designed as an OEM-style interchangeable pilot counterbore compatible with standard 1/2 inch straight-shank tool holders and accepts a 3/16 inch pilot shank diameter. Suitable for use in alloy tool steel, aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel workpieces.
This tool is installed by machinists or toolroom technicians using a drill press, milling machine, or CNC machining center. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or changing the pilot. Secure the 1/2 inch straight shank in a properly sized collet or drill chuck to the appropriate clamping depth before operation. Always verify pilot fit and clearance hole alignment before beginning the counterboring cycle to prevent tool deflection or workpiece damage.
