The CLEVELAND C46175 is a single-end, three-flute countersink designed for right-hand cutting in carbon steel and cast iron workpieces. It features a 3/4-inch head diameter with an 82-degree included angle, making it suited for standard flat-head fastener seating in structural and fabrication applications. The tool is manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with an oxide finish for basic wear resistance and heat reduction during cutting. The 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank provides compatibility with standard drill chucks and collet holders commonly found in shop and field setups. Overall length is 2.625 inches.
This countersink is used in machine shop, fabrication, and maintenance environments where precise fastener recessing is required in carbon steel or cast iron. The 82-degree angle matches the geometry of standard flat-head machine screws and bolts used across industrial and structural assemblies. It is appropriate for use on drill presses, lathes, and hand-held power tools equipped with a 1/2-inch capacity chuck. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and metal fabricators are the primary users. Single-end construction means the working end is fixed and not reversible.
Designed for countersinking operations in carbon steel and cast iron. Compatible with drill presses, lathes, and power tools with a 1/2-inch or larger chuck capacity. Material application is limited to carbon steel and cast iron as specified.
Use in a securely clamped workpiece to prevent movement during cutting. Run at appropriate spindle speeds for HSS tooling in the target material — consult tooling speed and feed charts before use. Apply cutting fluid when operating in steel to extend tool life and reduce heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use; a damaged countersink can produce out-of-tolerance seat geometry.
