The CLEVELAND C46170 is a single-end, straight-shank countersink designed for deburring and seat preparation in carbon steel and cast iron workpieces. The tool features a 5/8 inch head diameter, a 90-degree included angle, and three flutes ground for right-hand cutting. The shank measures 3/8 inch in diameter and seats in standard drill press or CNC chucks without modification. An oxide coating provides baseline lubricity and corrosion resistance. The high speed steel construction handles moderate production runs and intermittent use in machine shop and fabrication environments. No pilot is included, making this a standard freehand countersink suited for operators who locate the tool manually over a pre-drilled hole.
This countersink is used in machine shop, maintenance, and light manufacturing settings where countersunk fastener seats are required in carbon steel or cast iron parts. It fits drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held drill setups with a 3/8 inch chuck capacity. Typical applications include preparing flat-head screw seats and deburring drilled holes in ferrous workpieces. It is not designed for aluminum, plastics, or stainless steel per the stated material application.
Rated for countersinking operations in carbon steel and cast iron. Designed for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held drills equipped with a 3/8 inch or larger chuck.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool operator. Secure the 3/8 inch shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify the spindle runs true to avoid chatter or bell-mouthing the seat. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Do not use this countersink on materials outside the rated application, as doing so can accelerate tool wear or cause premature failure.
